Aside from the social proof/preselection that others have described, you're also likely to carry yourself more confidently when you're involved with someone. You're not prowling around like you haven't been laid in a year. You're not fawning over chicks that haven't earned your attention. The desperation you normally exhibit is gone.

Totally, having a girlfriend shows that girls see you as high value enough to date. Extra points if you frequently go to the same club with different women, showing the other regulars at the club that you're a highly desirable person. I always try to bring my female friends with me when I go to the club, I don't even really have to approach women on a good night, they'll just come to my group.

Yes, that's preselection. You are pre-approved by another woman as a suitable mate. I saw this happen all the time in my first LTR. She was older than me, and all her woman friends wanted a piece of me. Oh the sex I turned down, I figured they were messing with me and would report back to my gf. I was wrong. In fact, I should have fucked my gf's daughters, they wanted it too (yes they were over 18).

The crazies do...lol. But of course there is a certain confidence they gain knowing others are interested in you. However, I wouldn't deem that to be an important enough aspect to set up on you own. There are far more important things to be doing with your time

If you have it already don't send it away...if you don't have it at all focus on your real priorities.

I'll ask you a question. Why do you want a Lamborghini so badly. Because its fast? Because it looks good? Probably. But mostly because its rare. If everybody had a Lamborghini, the value of that car goes down because its taken for granted. But imagine if everybody drives a Ford Focus, and one guy in the world has a Lamborghini, but refuses to sell it. Now everybody wants it so badly, but they can't have it.

Same goes with girls. They may take you for granted when you're around them, but once you devote your attention to something else for a long period of time they start to pine for you (as long as you demonstrate some sort of value for them). This is kind of the basis for negs, in that a girl who is negged fears that the guy that she took for granted for her good feelings is going to leave her, so she responds by investing more in him.

I've found this to be true for if you have a girlfriend. I'm not fully sure how true it is for married folk, though. I'm in an open marriage and am slowly testing the waters, and I wonder about this all the time.

In college I had a bevy of women who came over my house on a regular basis to party. I had a girlfriend the entire time. My friends told me they all talked about wanting to fuck me. when I dumped that girlfriend and later tried hanging out with that group of girls again it was more difficult to get their interest.

While this may be pre-selection, as ThrowawayPUA claims, I'd like you guys to remember what it can generally mean to a girl - "I am not interested in you". So unless you want to send out a lack of interest in the girl (and no, always being disinterested doesn't work. You need to show SOME interest without being needy), I'd recommend using the sentence "I'm open for a relationship, but only with the right person".
