Chat her up but play the long game with her because she’s a coworker and there’s a lot to loose. Take your time and see if you like her as a person and she likes you back.

There is a girl (~25) in office who is cute. I have been thinking about approaching her, but a cold approach would not be good in this situation because we would be seeing each other everyday and a rejection would make things awkward.

Good, at least you understand the situation, even though it could work if both parties are grown up enough to not make it a big deal...

The best way which I have been suggested is to start with a coworker kind of talk and when she gets comfortable escalate to normal friends kinda talks and then move upwards from there.

Yeah.... no. What you have been suggested is the definition of creepy. You don't try to become friends and suddenly switch to "I want to get in your pants".

But I cannot think of any generic coworker kinda conversation that I can have and still continue for a bit long to build a rapport.

Thus, I came ask the heroes of this seddit to answer my cry for help.

Look. This is a pretty easy thing. If you interact with her, and your work environment allows for flirting (be cautious though, nowadays this can cost you your job/career) you do that, and then go with the flow. If she doesn't show any interest in you, you just next her and chase other girls. The key to this is to be aware of the boundaries your work environment puts on your interaction. She is working there, and she has to expose herself to you constantly, and usually this leads to her trying to be polite but she has no way to avoid you.

If you are experienced with such scenario, you know what to look for to gauge her interest, and from what I see, you don't, and she also doesn't seem to be even interested in you the slightest, otherwise you would have talked to her and knew if she is attracted or not. This will end in a disaster, I tell you. Forget about her, and expand you options by actually going outside! Only someone who never talks to women outside of work would even come up with such an Idea.

Workplace dating is very risky, especially for professionals. It’s a heartbreaker for sure.

The office is great for meeting people.

1) start with a nice smile that says, "I think you're cute." That's allowed in most offices. Eventually you start a casual convo.

2) avoid awkwardness. "Sooo ... do you want to go out next weekend?" is awkward. Not awkward: "Cool we should check that out sometime" ... she shows definite interest ... "ok maybe next weekend ..." in a neutral, non-desperate tone. No matter what she says, the close is your signature, happy smile.
