So, a girl was giving me clear buying signals last Friday (two days ago). I had to go to a wedding early Saturday, so instead of trying anything immediate I tried to arrange a meeting on Sunday (today). She invited me to a party she was going to tonight.

Today, she sent me an email saying I was still invited, but she's been "dating" someone and is "probably not" looking for anything more than friends.

Regardless of what I do, I'm going to run into her again at similar events. So, my questions are:

1) Any way to salvage something from the situation?

2) How best to respond?

I'm thinking 1) it's pointless to try and 2) I'm just going to ignore the email and not go to the party.

Any other suggestions?
