I've tried online dating for a few months now. I've got to day that "flake" has taken on a whole new meaning. Women say they wan to meet with you, return several phone calls and then don't show up for the "date." Spontaneity and manliness are things I've tried to cultivate in myself for sometime now. But what is wrong with wanting someone to be honest? I had a date last weekend that was going to be a diner and movie night. She wanted to go see a movie and have diner with me. The night we went out she said she had already eaten, offered me a granola bar, and then said she was tired, needed to take a shower, and relax. I was already there, flexible, but had said I'd like to take her out the next weekend for a "real date". She mentioned how she'd like to go out with me the next weekend, apologized for being tired, and then I rubbed her back (keep in mind, first date) while we watched a movie at her apartment. I told her I didn't mind and was generally laid back and understanding. We talked about what we want from a lover, and about how nice it was to meet someone. Am I just fucked? I tried to kiss her and she said she wanted to take her time. To avoid awkwardness I told her I was a patient man, she said "good" and we continued to share the evening with one another. The next weekend I was supposed to pick her up at 6pm. I showed up and her room mate said she had left at about 5:30 "with some guy." She never returned a call, or jack shit. Why do women do this? She is 27. Not a fickle girl, but a grown woman. I wan to communicate like an adult an don't play games. Am I all wrong and fucked up for thinking I can have real communication with a woman? Is there something wrong with me? I work full time, do martial arts 5 days a week, and I'm confident and direct about what I want.
