I got kind of bummed out today by the way things went with another girl, see FR 1, so I decided to get a chocolate croissant at the local coffee shop. I start up a conversations with a girl in line, not really in the mood to gamebut don't want to get the last disappointment get to me.

Anyway, I sit down by the outlets and start doing some work. A cute black, maybe half-black girl walks in and sits down not far from me. She plugs in her laptop, accidentally bumping in to me. I say "no problem" confidently.

After about 10 minutes, I say "Hey, you going to be here a few more minutes?" She says yes, "Cool, can you watch my stuff for a bit? I need to go make a phone call"

I walk out, not sure what I'm going to say when I get back. I pump myself up by listening to some music and strategize.

I walk back in...

Me: Thanks for that, my friend was freaking out"

Her: Why what happened?

Me: He found out his girlfriend was making out at a party last night... with another girl.

She seems to be pretty interested, but I feel fake. The conversation degenerates into talking about majors/where we live/the other boring college stuff I talk about with every single person I meet. She's a freshman, so maybe its wasnt that boring to her, but I just lose all interest in the conversation, and I think it shows. I dead end and go back go work.

30 minutes later I get a little mad at myself for letting the opportunity go and give it another shot. I'm not planning on any sort of close at all, just figured I could use the practice. I pack up my bag to give a time constraint. I tell her it was nice meeting her, get her name. She asks me for mine. Weird thing though, as I turn around to walk out, she pulls me back into the conversation. I don't remember what exactly, since my mind wasn't in gaming mode. But I sit down, we talk some more, the conversation is a little more fluid, and I get her number.

So a couple things...

1) Does the fact that you start with a scripted/semi-scripted opener make you feel fake? How do you not let it get to you?

2) What ways could I have used to build attraction?

3) What's my next move if any? Text/call?
