Now this goes for any social situation and it's really my number one rule: DON'T ALIENATE THE PERSON YOU'RE TALKING TO.

If a conversation can flow into something that you know a lot about that's totally cool, but don't fucken sperg out and start alienating whoever you're talking to, that's a one-way ticket to awkward city. There's gotta be give and take with conversations. Talk with them, not at them, and for the love of god don't act like you're better than them because you happen to have some movie script memorized. I'm not sure what you mean by complex though, are you talking to a HB9 about particle physics?

Anyway, there's bound to be shit you can talk about with the girl. Find out what her interests are, find the hot buttons. Then just ask her questions and extrapolate from there to dig for more things to talk WITH her about. Find commonalities, be a human being for fuck sake.

Imagine if it was reversed and the girl starts talking about louboutin high heels and all of the different styles of them etc (to stereotypically use a subject that girls like and guys have no clue about) just because the conversation could lead into it. It'd probably make you feel a little awkward. Thus, if you don't HAVE to mention it, then don't. Unless it's brief and adds substance to the conversation. But make sure you're not rambling.

Also, your tone is super important. Don't act like you're looking down on her.

summary: if you know more about the subject, add a quick fact. Don't ramble. Have a lighthearted tone.

I face this problem all the time, here is my tactic:

1: Never talk 'down' to them. Its insulting to her, whenever you phrase something act like its the first time you've ever heard it. Avoid attitudes like "well obviously everyone knows that". Have some compassion and phrase it more like "i learned something cool the other day..."

2. tie it in with something she is interested in, or if you cannot find the common thread, romanticize it and make it about beauty/appreciation of life. Girls love passion, but are easily bored by details. Make it sentimental and inspiring, have some uplifting emotions attached to it.

3. Highlight areas where she is knowledgable. If she makes an attempt to tell you an interesting fact or something, be interested in it and give her some positive feedback, even if you've heard it before. She's reaching out and hoping to impress you, recognize that at more than the face value and give her some credit for trying to be a brainy chick (intelligence should be fostered and encouraged in women, as far as im concerned.)

4. Finally, don't take yourself too seriously. No matter how smart you are, there is something that you are terrible at, facts you are ignorant of, and other perspectives that are just as valid. No one likes the dweeb who corrects everyone, has to be right all the time or gets the last word in just to show how pedantic he can be.

2 options: dumb down your talk when you are speaking to less intelligent people or talk geek and use that to filter out those who don't like geeks... because it will.

I'm going to be blunt here. People who say "don't adjust your conversation" are wrong and lack experience in talking to people who are poor/uneducated/ignorant etc.

Since applying "talk to everyone" in my everyday life, I've talked to hundreds of people who have never even been outside of this city, let alone went to college or had a good family upbringing. Some of them are legitimately stupid, sure, but some of them are really smart, they just haven't had the same exposure to certain topics as I have had. Hell I've dated some women who work shitty jobs and come from the barrio but are still totally awesome, witty and smart, they just had a seriously disadvantaged upbringing.

You have to find common ground in any conversation. If you're talking to a girl, you need to test the waters about the topics you bring up. For instance, I love talking about travel, but if I'm on a date and realize this girl hasn't travelled much outside the US, I won't gush on about all the different amazing places I've been to. That alienates them.

Also, if this is happening to you a lot, you may want to adjust your topics. You mentioned politics and tech topics, these are attraction killers for a lot of girls. Focus on things that get the girl's blood pumping, like passions and experiences.

Get off your high horse. It's not like you're Einstein or anything (and even Einstein, a super-genius, had charisma). It is fun to teach people things and open their eyes to new ideas. You don't have to look down your nose at them when you do it. Be cool man.

You have to be congruent with who you are. If you dumb it down, people will sense it. I think the thing here is the usual detachment of the pickup artist. We are not trying to impress people, even though we use DHVs. We display our higher qualities, without need to feed our ego by being attached to the results.
