One of my older posts describes my disastrous escapade to a frat party which I dub "jumping into cold water and not having a clue on how to swim." See, if I knew how to doggie paddle it would've been refreshing and exciting to finally hit the water again. However, my plunge into the dark abyss of what is commonly called "the game" was like never learning how to swim and jumping in after swinging on a rope. This only led to getting pulled out of the water by a friend while I try to hide my embarrassment and cope with a bruised dignity. Brilliant night.

Anyways, water analogies aside, I browsed seddit for a few days. The forums taught me a couple backstrokes and then I preceded to wade around in a new pond. The results were bountiful! Basically, HB8 was sitting alone before class, I threw caution to the wind and just sat down and talked to her for a good 7 or 8 minutes. She had to go to another class and said "yeah blahblahblah I'll see you tomorrow and we can talk about herpity derp some more." Oh. My. God. Bullshitting it actually worked out as planned, no number closing though. Because another HB8 sighting was in my second class. On this energy high that I got from finally holding out a decent conversation I struck up conversation after class and once again left it open for the next time.

Jump two days into the future and I talk to HB8 again, got her to laugh some more with shitty jokes and come to find she lives in town. "Yeah you should totally swing by sometime." FUCK YEAH! She's new to the college so I decide to number close, come to find out she just has email... balls. So she says she'll give me her address next time and I stayed confident/smiling throughout.

Jump 5 minutes, new email on my iphone? Oh really? She apparently used our campus directory in our online class forum thingy (it takes a lot of patience to find anything on the piece of shit) and found my email. Her message was basically "anytime you want a break/want to study/do anything we totally should." Bada bing, but here's the catch. Other HB8 was the one I kinda wanted to get with but I'm a little iffy about. Long story short, I see her the next class and don't really get eye contact/acknowledgment/even during the last conversation she was a little stoic and shy. But whatever, I wasn't straightforward enough when I saw her again and may have been too high on the "a girl actually wants to hang out with me" thing.

But seriously, I see a lot of posts from guys who are "not comfortable with approaching" or "nervous about taking the next step" in the college setting. I was in the same boat a week ago. So I grew a set, got out into the field without a care, expected there to be some fuck ups here and there, but most of all only spent 40% browsing seddit and the other 60% working on small conversations with random people. It's all about testing things out from what I've seen, with cashiers, people in line, classmates, and slowly but surely I resurfaced some harboring social skills.

So here are a few questions after my... ramble. Did I screw things up with the other HB8 by not talking to her again? Where should I go with the HB8 that emailed me? Was it the right thing to just go ahead and take what my FR gave me?
