Last night I was out with friends and just not that energized. Long week at work, tired, but I put my game face on and despite tons of AA decided to approach a large group of girls (6-7). I used Cajun's drug dealer opener: "Do I look like a drug dealer? Because all my friends are asking me if I can get them some weed tonight." One of the girls said, "step back and let's have a look" so I did and they all made comments. "no, not really," "kind of," etc.

I did a quick scan to see who was into it and who wasn't. Some girls looked genuinely bored by me, but I turned to a pair on my left who weren't talking but were smiling. "Haha I'm glad I don't really look like a drug dealer. How do y'all know each other?"

"Oh we're sisters," they say. I respond, "haha that's really cute of you guys to go out with each other." One of whom was there with her boyfriend. I greeted him then introduced myself to the three of them. "Where are you from?" The neighborhood. At this point the sister with the boyfriend stops talking so I turn to the single sister and ask her where she went to school. She's still in school it turns out. We start talking about nothing in particular.

The whole time I am touching her waist / hip, escalating to putting both hands on the bar around her, leaning in very close to talk, slipping a finger into her pocket and pulling her closer.

Her friends are essentially all watching this operation like hawks. She glances a few times at them and smiles nervously as if to say, "I don't know why this is happening either!"

We get in a conversation about what she's doing this summer, what her major is, etc. etc. We're laughing and having a good time. At this point friends say they want to go. She says, "nice to meet you," but I ask her for her number and get it.

As they're walking out I text her, "Who was that hot guy you were with?" and she checks her phone, turns at me and laughs, then waves good bye.

I get a text a minute later that is nonsensical but kind of looks like "what's your name again?" I wrote back, "You're not making any sense but I'll let it go because you're a cutie," to which she responded "well you're cute too :)"

So I decide to pull out this line: "I think that means I'm taking you out on Sunday before you escape to Greece" (she had told me earlier she was going on vaca in Greece. No response.

Next day I text, "Hey crazy face, what kind of trouble are you causing today?" No response.

So overall I think a good application of formulaic maneuvers with some critical lessons / takeaways:

  • I didn't game the group enough and left them uncomfortably disconnected from their friend / possibly envious that a guy is talking to her and not them
  • I probably made her feel self conscious that I was focusing so much attention on her and all her friends were watching; I didn't try to focus attention on anyone other than her
  • I escalated kino extremely rapidly, perhaps too much so
  • My texts may have been too aggressive

Not quite sure why if she liked me she wouldn't respond to the texts but more evidence that this shit works!
