I went out to a bowling alley/lounge normally a club upstairs. This event was free so I figured awesome I'm cheap I have to go.

I get in the place looks cool (more of a club vibe) and think ok your in, smile walk with purpose whatever you do don't stand against the wall. I space out don't open any sets and proceed to the bar. $2 beers are gone and I decide I will try to get out more comfort zone and hit the dance floor sober. I did but only on the edges :( but still went with it. I eventually gave up and decide to open at least one set or at least talk to a women.

I asked nearest lady (turned out to be really cute when I saw her under lights) "who is the best dancer here", she asked "man or woman" I said "either, both". She said someone was doing the splits earlier and asked if I battle. I said "no I'm trying to learn", but she heard yes somehow and asked to see my moves. I asked for a small presentation from her and she complied. Eventually we danced no grinding or anything but sober dancing outside my comfort zone while solo was cool. Made friends with her friends. Awkwardly asked for her number (some stuttering and rephrasing during). She asked surprised and said "you want my number?". I said "yes" she asked if I was ready and I pulled out my phone. She eventually danced with someone else 10 minutes later said bye to friends tapped her and headed out.

I expected to get a fake number. While trying I thought do I really want it?

tl;dr Went out solo. I had a lot of AA and was determined to dance sober and talk to at least one Hb. Opened a set asking a genuine question no interest in HB ended up dancing and meeting her friends. Went better than expected.

Edit: remembered after dancing dj/mc asked me my name than gave a shout out to me. I asked for a shout for her but her name may have been mispronounced (she said I had it right earlier). She and her people were happy and she had a solo dance thing going "go mersa go mersa go mersa" was shouted.

Thinking back that was a lot of fun for free :)
