I read some RSD Blueprint stuff and I'm sorting out some things and want to see how to apply them. So here are some thoughts and I'd like to hear your thoughts.
Taking on a mindset of outcome-independence has been encouraged because it allows us to: 1) Continue with practice despite failure and 2) Maintain confidence that is self-generated and not dependent on the ups and downs of practice
In addition, showing that you are outcome-independent is attractive. RSD uses the term non-reaction seeking. To be non-reaction seeking seems to be the moment by moment application of the outcome-independent mindset. It is looking at a girl and expecting IOIs, not seeking them. It's approaching and expecting her to try to impress you, not seeking signs of her approval and good reactions to your opener.
Isn't this being in-state? Is this what it's like for the most skilled (practiced) PUAs?
This is interacting with people without wanting too much from them at the start. Not trying to get only certain reactions. Self-amusement fits here. Being a value-giver and not a value-taker. Wanting nothing and getting everything.
There was a lecture from DJ Fuji up some time ago and he made a point of how bad approaches for a woman feel like when someone comes up to you on the street and you know they're going to ask you for money. You can feel it. I'm guessing that you perceive them looking for certain reactions from you and you resist. Reaction-seeking is an attempt at reaction-controlling and that causes resistance. Reaction-seeking is nervously giving the reaction you want to see: laughing nervously after your own comment, ending things with "right?", "you know?"
Have you experienced this in-field? What about in fields outside of game, like work? In comedic theatre, there is an important difference between seeking laughter and staying focused on the scene and one's scene partners. It's delivering the joke and expecting laughter, not asking for it. I think I've seen it in teaching when managing a classroom. It's looking at a kid and expecting him/her to start paying attention instead of seeking and reacting. I recently was doing solicitations for charity and could feel my thoughts slipping into reaction-seeking. "Is it ok that I ask for money?" "Is he smiling?"
TL,DR; What do you think about extending your outcome-independence moment by moment, not just after a set? To approach and interact with expectation (assume attraction), instead of seeking and trying to force signs of approval. Help me do more of this.
