This weekend, I was at a party where I didn't manage to approach. I think usually, if party groups are more fluid, I don't get approach anxiety. However, if the groups seem more permanent or solid, I think I start to get a bit of AA.

At this party, there were two types of sets that I wasn't sure what a good approach was:

Set 1: Two HB8-9 that was one of the few girls at the party that kept talking to each other. I saw multiple guys approaching them and presumably getting blown out within minutes, and the two girls go back to talking to each other. This intimidated me, and I'm guessing seddit's advice here is just man up, grow some balls, and get blown out. chances are I'll learn something. But my question is, if I were to hit it off with a target, how would I isolate in this case? Because chances are, the other HB would want her conversation partner back. Perhaps I should have found an impromptu wing?

Set 2: A girl sitting on a couch, with a bunch of AFCs standing around her, but at a distance, not sitting down on the couch next to her. Again, I'm not sure how to isolate, since I imagined me talking to them with all these guys hovering around. However, I suppose this would have been an easier set, since if I sat down next to her after a while grabbing her attention, she'd have no choice but to turn away from them. And those other guys would eventually leave of boredom.
