Last week I was in a bit of a bad place, but you guys gave me some very solid advice on how to move forward. I'm currently focusing on having fun, because the journey is not going to be sustainable if I can't even manage that.

I'm in the middle of a 100 set plowing challenge, where I don't leave until the girl leaves. I managed five sets like this last night, two of which ended with very solid number closes. I also learned that you can do things in bars which are far out of the realm of socially acceptable, and no one gives a shit.

Sorority Girls

I open a seated three-set for my first plow challenge with 'Did you just talk to a guy with a mullet?' I was actually pretty curious because I thought Jeffy had opened them before me and I wanted to see what he said/did. Turns out Jeffy hadn't opened them, and one of the girls immediately tries to blow me out with 'No, but we only talk to guys with mullets.' If I wasn't on the 100-set plowing challenge, I might have left. I don't leave, and out my mouth comes some incoherent, non sequitor bullshit, but it doesn't matter. The blonde taking up an entire row with her legs moves them, a clear indicator that she wants me to sit down. I oblige.

I sit down, and at this point the set becomes an HB7 trying to blow me out, AMOG friend trying to help her (nerdy guy, heavily balding, prides himself on his meager intelligence, probably thought I was some idiot bar douchebag, the look on his face when I mention my alma mater was priceless). Second girl was an HB7 who originally tried to blow me out, but then shifted to trying to get my attention. Third girl was an HB6 who immediately hooked on me. I honestly wanted to shift to the HB7 when I noticed the IOIs, but HB6 was in really deep rapport with me, telling me her life story, putting her hands all over me (I wasn't reciprocating, she was cool so I decided to friend her). I learn that they're having a sorority reunion here tonight, and, within ten minutes, eight more girls of HB caliber 6-9 appear. At the table, it is now me, HB6 to my right, bitchy HB7 (who is now giving me IOIs) to my left, and 4 girls seated in front of us, and several girls crowded around the table. I look like a super pimp.

At this point, I hook about half of the girls and the other half clearly want me to leave. I probably should have tried to disqualify myself a bit, but I had already spent an hour in the set and I wanted to get more plowing experience. HB6 goes to the bathroom, I pick up an easy number close and talk to the others for a bit before heading back to the BAS group.

Couple of other tidbits

I do some fun stuff around the bar, pushing my boundaries.

  • Two girls hug each other in an attempt to get me to leave. I just think 'plowing' and put my arms around both of them, one of them looks at me and proceeds to include me in the hug.

  • I wave my hand in front of a girls face while she is texting to get her attention as an opening.

  • Sometimes girls would apologize for their bitchy friends, which I found pretty funny, but a lot of girls up in this bar had a huge attitude problem.

I've still got 95 sets to go in my plowing challenge. One thing I might work on now is talking more during the first few minutes. I'm very good at bantering once we have a topic, but I struggle to find common ground. I think TofuTofu advocated simply blathering on until the girl latched on to something. It would probably improve my 'stickiness' too, since standing there not talking is probably not the best way to hook a set.

So, thanks a lot guys, and, as always, your advice and perspectives are much appreciated.
