How do you deal with checkout/cashiers HBs in malls and super-markets?

I haven't field tested this, but I'd say the best close is going to be "what time do you get off work?". You only need to build enough attraction to keep her interested through her otherwise dull shift. It can be creepy to show up at her workplace and have to hang around while she cashes out or whatever, so better to meet her somewhere nearby.

I remember reading the suggestion somewhere to entertain working girls by guiding them on a visualization of something more fun than work. For example:

Her: My job is boring / I'd rather not be here / etc

You: Where would you rather be?

Her: The beach

You: Alright, close your eyes for a minute and imagine you're on the beach. Feel the warm sun. Hear the lapping waves. etc

Less weird might be to simply have a quick conversation about where she'd rather be - that'll still generate good feelings and associate them with you. Please try all this and post some FRs. :)

I've never tried to pick one of them up per se, but I have made the interaction more playful. Typically they'll ask "how are you today?" like a robot. I usually respond very enthusiastically with "I am awesome!!" That usually gets a laugh and often leads to more interaction about what kind of day they're having.

I've also responded with "Oh, about an 8" (as in 1-10 scale)

Actually, now that I think about it, I did this once with a waitress at a ski resort and ended up getting her number. We went out that night, but nothing came of it.

I've tried # closing, and arranging meetups with cashiers twice recently. Both females responded with "Maybe, come visit me again." Either a nice way to blow me out, or perhaps they want a little more comfort built up. Will keep you posted on my results.

I pretty much assume they are busy and/or not interested and do not hassle them unless I get some pretty major signals multiple looks my way with smiles etc, I have picked up a few bartenders and waitresses it can be done.

But I think this kind of applies to all everyday places I don't really think it is an appropriate place to chat someone up, their work or at a shop or on the street. In a bar they cant really get shitty about it but I have seen some people get brutally shot down trying it on in the supermarket etc.

I had a thought today. A depressing one. I know, I know, here I am again with my negativity.

I go to a cafeteria most days where there is an extremely friendly cashier. She is always very friendly to me. She smiles at me and clearly recognizes me. I swear, her smile is the single biggest validation I have of the idea that we should all smile at people. Because I think hers makes the world a better place. *Ahem*.

So anyway, at first I was like, well I should really start saying hi to her. And then we would start to have little mini-conversations while she was swiping my card. And then I started wondering, "Well, what would seddit do, I can't really ask her out because she lives with her parents and I don't know if she has a car and she doesn't get off work the same time as I do and she doesn't have a whole lot of extra money and what would even be a reasonable activity to propose that wouldn't require either of us to go out of our way?" And so I left it at that for a while.

And I think now I realize that all these mini-conversations we were having, it wasn't rapport at all. She has those conversations with everybody. Hundreds of people a day, every day. There is literally nothing I could say in the minute or so that we have that would mean any more or less than the many other things other people say to her.

And so there is no point. It's all a game that I, because I am so unsocial and talk to people so rarely, insist on taking seriously.
