It wasn't until last night that I suspected that therapy might be useless to men.

I was thinking that the majority of therapists try to solve your problems in a very feminine way: sit down, talk about your feelings, start crying, repeat. And while it may work for women, I think it's completely useless to men.

One thing the red pill showed me is that all men must be men of action; men must always be doing something or they will literally go insane, so sitting down and talking about your feelings is ineffective.

I had some depression problems in the past year (still have some to some degree), I felt that I was going insane, I feared for my life; but the only things I did with my (female) therapist were 5 minute breathing exercises, bullshit calligraphy exercises and affirmations (self-lies). It wasn't until I started lifting, swimming and taking care of my own life when I started feeling good again. None of this was encouraged by my therapist.

Maybe I just had a bad therapist, but I have the bad suspicion that the majority of them are like this: they won't encourage you to act as long as they make a profit off your suffering, and if they do, they will only reassure you to do the things you already know you have to do. I feel like you could get the same relief talking about your feelings with your family or a really close friend.

I am not discrediting the efforts of psychologists and psychiatrists to treat serious mental illnesses, but I think that unless your life or the life of others is in serious danger, therapy might be useless to you.

Any thoughts?
