Today a very minor event occurred in my life but it reminded me of whats important when it comes to avoiding being forever alone. So basically went shopping and bought some clothes but was helped by a really cute girl from italy or the like, had to leave the store to go do something else and so left with a smile and see you later, nothing much of it. Decided to go back and browse some more clothes, now i'm sure this is all terrible practice and all that but i had resolved to ask her out for a drink no matter what.

So having set myself up like this, and entered the store I had three outcomes; bitching out and leaving like a chump, asking and getting rejected, asking and succeeding. Two evils with a chance of success. Well after a long awkward browse with some small talk with the girl, i finally manned up, walked over to this girl, smiled, looked her in the eye and said "Hey would you like to get a drink when you get off work?" She gave me a huge smile and said thanks but sorry I have a bbq to go to with some friends" To which i replied something along the lines of "no worries have a great night" and left the area stat. Could have pushed for another night but decided not to.

Anyways, I know there are tons and tons of posts about this kind of stuff and no doubt mine is no different. BUT having asked, been rejected and walking away I thought about the encounter for a while and obviously there was lots i could have done better. I walked away feeling slightly awkward but i was grinning ear to ear just because I had faced the fear off asking the question, the outcome didn’t matter, I felt good just because i asked her out, irrespective of the response.

From now on every time I get a chance to ask out a girl out there will be two possible outcomes, she says yes or she says no. Many many times I have been too nervous to ask and walked away and regretted it horribly for hours and hours after it, kicking myself saying you should of asked. Today i asked, got rejected, felt like a boss anyway. Tips, critique etc more than welcome.

TL;DR Asked a girl out, got rejected, felt good anyway because I had the courage to ask. The feeling of walking away thinking what could have been is ten times worse than a smile and a "sorry i'm busy but thanks anyway."

Don't reject yourself (like I have always done) by not asking the damn question! A no from her (/him) feels a hell of a lot better than a no from yourself!
