Drop it! Don't let it develop into oneitis or whatever that shit is supposed to be. You got her number. That's a success for you! What you need to do now is to think like a scientist: try to reproduce the results you got from this HB8 approach (#-close) and work on fine-tuning the details of how you do it with every new attempt.

Your first mistake was waiting TOO LONG to approach this HB8, and now you probably come off as a creepy dude or something. Whether or not you have a chance with this girl, I can't really say for sure. But what I can tell you is that you'll have a way, way, WAY better chance by starting off clean with a new HB8, or perhaps even an HB9/10.

You're too outcome dependent. Instead of thinking about getting numbers, just talk. As you gain confidence, instead of seeing girls as opportunities, you'll find it's just fun to shoot the shit with strangers. Girls will see that gained confidence and want to hang out with you more, will ask for your number, and try and get you to do things with them. :)

When I had trouble approaching, I was jaded from not getting numbers, or like you getting numbers from girls with bf's (though sometimes that was a lie). I changed my approach and instead decided I wanted to get her name (and remember it, something I've always been horrible at), and find out something interesting about her, and remember to ask her about it later if/when I see her. What I found was (doing 3-5 approaches like this per day) is I met a lot of people, and often the second time I'd run into them they'd invite me out to parties or dates or whatever.

Alright. Don't go aiming for #'s right away. It makes you outcome dependent and then you act like your life depends on getting the #. I'd rather aim to have good conversations with one girl a day. If it really clicks, then ask for her # then. Slowly use those experiences to figure out what works/doesn't work, read the sidebar to figure out if that matches real life in your own experiences.

Tl;dr: Make an outcome independent goal: Approach one girl a day. Have a good conversation with one girl a day. Then work your way up from there.

It doesn't sound like a solid number because you DLV'd (demonstrated lower value) to your target. You need to approach more sets and desensitize yourself to the process so that you come across less needy (needy == creepy). Good job on getting the number, but don't get hung up on any particular one. Props on finally getting out there. My collegiate game has been so so this semester. In regards to your next move, how exactly did you get her number and did you defuse the boyfriend line at all?

If things went decently enough, I would just text her like any other friend. "Hey its xxx, how's it going?". If you can be a genuine friend, you access her social circle - which can be extremely valuable, especially in college.
