So the question I have is this, is being open and ready to share intimacy a viable path into the bedroom, or is it a one-way ticket to the friend zone? I would love to hear what seddit thinks.

This question came to me after reading Men as Hunters, a good article which can be found at:

http://positivejuice.wordpress.com/2012/02/14/why-men-are-the-sexual-hunters-and-women-are-considered-keepers-of-sex-and-what-can-be-done-to-address-this-imbalance/

It is pretty long, so here is the TL;DR version: - Women have historically had to bear the greater consequences of sex, and without such modern things as birth control, choosing whom to have sex with was a BIG deal. It paid off to be stingy.

  • Both men AND women have a great deal of stereotypes to live up to/overcome, which limit their ability to find happiness in their sexual relationships.

  • Women always have the option of sex. What they want is sex+intimacy. Men always have the option of intimacy (think friend-zone). What they want is sex+intimacy.

  • Women can end up getting much more intimate with their male companions by being more open and giving sexually. Once a man is comfortable around a woman sexually, he feels more comfortable being intimate.

  • Men can get more sex from their female companions by being more intimate. Once a woman feels like she is having her needs for intimacy met, she can feel comfortable being sexual with a man.
