I was at a bar to network, but as the night went on, more and more cute women were showing up. Once, while I was in the middle of a geeky conversation with another guy, a woman walked right up to us and started hitting on me. She asked what we were talking about and tried to have something to say about it, then she stood close enough for our arms to touch and asked me if I wanted to get a drink with her.

She looked a little drunk, but she knew what she wanted. I told her we'll get one later and touched her arm lightly while I said it.

I didn't want to just drop the conversation with the guy or force all three of us to maintain a conversation together that wasn't going to work. Within 15 minutes, I saw that girl with another guy start leaving the bar. goddamit.

I'm pretty good at getting some conversations rolling with people, but I'm not very good at ending them. After a certain point in the night, the networking opportunities had winded down and I could have been approaching, but I had these excuses: 1) I wasn't there for that 2) I didn't want to offend the people I had been talking to.

So, I'm kicking myself tonight. Lots of times I caught girls looking at me and I was better at keeping eye contact, but I wasn't approaching. When I was networking, I thought I shouldn't go approach. When the colleagues left, I had time to approach, but felt strange being alone.
