If you know an area where there will be plenty of places to have lunch just meet up in that area at a coffee place or something and then pick one out while strolling around. You can then expand the date by going shopping or something. Make sure you don't continually ask her which place she would like to go to. Just pick one yourself. Girls like men who are assertive and have a plan (or look like they have a plan).

Send her a text or something the day before and say something like "We still on for tomorrow?" or however you would phrase it. When she responds you can either tell her what you're thinking or make it a surprise... your call but don't just assume she'll show up if you haven't talked to her in almost a week.

As for what you do, it doesn't matter but don't start overthinking it. Meet up with her and ask her if she's hungry. She may have assumed that you're getting lunch and therefore, food would be a good starting point. If you eat, you can certainly go out and walk around for a bit afterwards. Either way that's probably not a bad idea for part two of your date.

I would check out Yelp and see if anything interesting was in the area. If you read through the reviews you might find something fun.

You should've said you'd call her mid/late-week to shore up the details, if there's a big gap between setting a date and going on it that's generally a good way to reduce the awkwardness.

As for a venue, google is your friend. Just search for interesting things to do in the city. If that doesn't work, imagine where you'd take her if she lived next door to you, I'm sure there's an equivalent where she lives, take her there! Again, google is your friend.

Don't do something typical like a dinner date. An activity, a late-ish lunch and then another activity is a good idea I think. Shopping is a bad idea early on in a relationship, unless you're genuinely interested in following her around shops. Exploring can be really cool though. Say 'let's just explore and find somewhere that looks cool to eat.' Research the general areas in the city and what you're likely to find there. Maybe even have a back-up plan under your sleeve you can subtly guide her towards in case you don't find anything on your adventures. If you find somewhere good you can call it 'Our spot', a nice shared experience (which is very advantageous if you split and then want to have sex again 6 months down the line, trust me). It also gives you plenty of time to talk and get to know each other (I wouldn't do this with a girl I just wanted to bang, I'd probably get bored, for that stick to places which serve alcohol).

female Redditor here...there's a good chance she's waiting to hear from you. I would text her tomorrow to see if you're still on for Sunday. Instead of lunch, try brunch! Girls love brunch (myself included). Not sure if you're in NYC but there's always something going on like street fairs and flea markets, free indie movies, etc.
