Do people still talk on the phone anymore?

I'm 33 years old and recently out of a eight year relationship. The last time I was running game the phone conversation seemed like a pretty crucial step. You called a girl to run a little game and ask her out. It wasn't that weird to call a girl just to chat her up.

I feel like now it's 1) impossible to get people on the phone anymore. Hell, I hardly ever pick up the phone. And 2) People don't chat on the phone the way they used to. The couple times I do get a girl on the phone I sense that she thinks it's a bit weird that I'm chatting her up a bit first.

Does anybody else get this? I'm getting better at text game. Is that de facto these days?
