Gents, I’ve recently gotten into an LTR. It’s been nothing but good and it has let me focus a lot of time I used to spend on gaming girls. One night, I randomly shot up midconversation and walked towards the bathroom to pee. I left the door open and she said let out a very affectionate and drawn “babe.” I ignored it and then she said someone’s name. It wasn’t mine. I must have heard wrong, so I come back and ask her what she said.

“Oh nothing I was just texting my mom.”

I know what I heard...

“Who’s xxx?”

“No one blah blah just something I was saying to my mom.”

I believe her. But my gut doesn’t. So I’m sitting there ruminating on things. 10 minutes later she admits it was her ex’s name. I don’t really remember what I did or said, I just explained that he was on her mind and that’s fucking shitty. Non verbally I was pissed. I’m not insecure about some guy in the past, but just the tone she used to say his name makes everything she says now sound so fake and scripted when she tries to sound affectionate with me.

Science says it’s an old habit. And they are usually brought back for a reason. She told me later he contacted her a few days before saying “I miss you blah blah” and she was blocking him on her laptop when i went to go pee. I don’t think she’d cheat, physically, but maybe she’s not telling me the full story. That’s where you guys come in. Should I be concerned? Is it really just something that happens when people from the past come back?

I don’t think there is a bigger insult in the world than being called the wrong name. I can’t shame her or make her feel bad about it because she’ll concentrate on not saying it. Appreciate the advice fellas.
