...but not desperate enough for me at least...

I've hung out with two ex-girlfriends in the last couple days and both of them brought up the topic of their sad state of their current dating lives pretty quick. They talked about online dating and only meeting lame guys, how they haven't gotten laid in however many months, etc.

These girls are both great and very attractive. When I broke up with each it was out of circumstance more than anything. One had to move to a different city for family issues. The other I was working with at the time and the relationship was causing problems so we called it off.

But listening to both of their complaints, I couldn't help but think, 'uh... I'm here. I could fix those problems for you.'

1) Was that what they are hinting at or does this more likely mean that I'm officially friend-zoned?

2) What can I do to escalate these situations? I tried talking about sex with them, tried to make my own dating life seem peachy (which it is) and playfully tease them as much as possible. But when I tried even the lightest kino I got a big 'Ha! No way. I know where this is going reaction.'

Is this a lost cause or something I can work on. I feel like it might take a little more time, persistence and smoothness.

Any thoughts?
