So The Dark Triad is a set of three traits, that despite being completely non-virtuous and destructive, seem to create attraction as a side effect. This Dark Triad consists of:

1) Narcissism - Being in love with yourself. Having problems seeing flaws in yourself, only seeing good things, etc.

2) Machiavellianism - Cunning and manipulation. Mind games, basically.

3) Psychopathy - The creators meant this more in a cold-hearted, impulsive thrill-seeker sort of way more than a kill people sort of way (maybe that's why Charles Manson has a fan club).

So supposedly individuals who possess these three attributes are...well...hot to women. The researchers don't know why, but when they did tests, women repeatedly kept going for guys who exhibited these behaviors. A Google search will bring up tons of articles. It's basically shows the science behind why girls like "jerks."

I started thinking about these traits, and realized an insane amount of famous people exhibit them. The first person who popped into my head was JFK, but so many other presidents fit too. Almost every celebrity could at least fill two of the three. And even fictional characters do (James Bond, Han Solo, etc.)

Honestly I don't know what practical information to get from this (I'm sure it's there if you can find it), but I just find it intriguing as hell. Is it a side-effect of evolutionary progress or is it a primary motivator? And if so, why? :-)
