I would put the most effort into the messages you write. Keep them succinct, straightforward, friendly, confident, and nonchalant. Sometimes guys can just say one little thing "wrong" and put a girl off because she's just trying to quickly narrow down her list of emails to respond to. If there's even a hint of desperation it can be a big turn-off. Good luck! :) K.I.S.S.

Definitely vampire_kashta's advice, but in my opinion its normal that 10% or less of people who view your profile respond. Since your message was good enough to get them to click your profile, maybe its your profile that's the problem? Then again, maybe its just life, and there is no problem at all.
