You guys can add whatever you want to this list, but there are many requests both here and on askseddit for "game" that doesn't really exist. There is a very clear reason why these requests are constantly being made: They are a way that guys are trying to use to "get around" or escape their approach anxiety. These include:

  • Facebook game
  • Text game
  • Workplace game
  • Gaming with too much drinking (credit /u/Phaint)

The first two are electronic media, and so you are trying to "game" from the convenience of your own computer or cell phone. Facebook and text messages don't constitute game in their own right, but are just tools that you use in real game. That is, there is no such thing as Facebook or Text Game. You can't build attraction that isn't there on Facebook or through text messages.

As to workplace game, it sounds good for guys with approach anxiety because you already know these women and they seem to be friendly to you. A lot of couples meet at work, my parents met at work and are married now. But does this actually constitute "game"? Is your goal to seduce and have sex with your co-workers? This sounds like a risky proposition to anyone who is listening to it, and it sounds to me like someone is trying to bypass their approach anxiety by trying to "game" women who they already know and work with.

These are called "buffers" because they are ways of avoiding the prospect of rejection, and the anxiety of approaching someone new. The purpose of game is to give you an advantage in the dating game. The above methods are valid means of hooking up with someone, but they are essentially the methods of AFC's. AFC's do sometimes hook-up, they do have romances and they do get married. But it's absurd to label the methods of AFC's as "game".
