I don't live in Madrid, but Spain has plenty of opportunities to meet new people (as most of our social life develops around bars). There are a lot of bars where they ask you which language you want to learn. You sit on your own for a couple of minutes with a beer and eventually new people arriving at the bar will sit with you. Also you can join a table without looking creepy because most of the people there are interested on the same thing as you, practising languages, meeting new people and flirt. Ask for "bares de intercambio", they usually are Irish-pub style places. The first time can be tough but it's the quickest and best way to do what you ask for on your post.

Then, with just one friend you can move on to the night club partying, and that would be much easier. I'd also search where the Erasmus students meet. Check for signs in college, pubs, etc.

Best place to pick up tourists and expats are Irish pubs. My favorite for meeting people is Dubliners, just south of Sol.

Be warned though Sol is for tourists so don't expect to many Spanish girls there. Spaniards will be partying in Malasana and Chueca north of Gran Via. That being Sol is the place for pick up. After you meet someone take them down to Calle De Huertas for dancing.

It's much easier to get laid by other tourists than by the Spaniards that live in Madrid. There are about 10 universities that do Erasmus, so meeting other foreigners and exchange students isn't too difficult, you just have to tolerate really shitty venues.

I had a beautiful Spanish girlfriend for a few years while living in Madrid. It took me about 8 dates to get laid. I still cringe thinking back to that...

I studied abroad in Spain for 6 months. Spanish girls are going to be HARD to hook up with. There are so many expats and students from other countries there's a lot of variety to choose from.

I live in Mallorca, and cant really speak for the attitude of girls all over the country, but expect to work your ass off, Spanish women are notoriously high maintenance, and as an american its going it be even harder to hook up unless you lower your standards.

Other tourists, well, thats a different story. Can be like shooting fish in a barrel. :P

I'm from Spain as well (more specifically, the south). If i could give you any advice, it would be the following: Do not make any assumptions regarding spanish girls, or game in Spain in general -as in, it's more difficult to hook up here-. Game is game here and everywhere (barring some middle east countries, and dictatorships, but that's about it).

If you can get the ball rolling with any girl that speaks english fluently (or perhaps you speak fluent spanish) you will see the same behavioral pattern as you can find in any other girl around the globe. So do not get anxious about "screwing up" because cultural differences, they are not a big deal -unless you make them-. You can do it just fine.

Well, from my experience in Spain, girls are really friendly and easy to open, closing is another thing. But I agree with others from here, other tourists and Americans are way easier to fuck, they're almost like Spring Breakers when they go to Spain. Also, the beaches are topless so you can go and open chicks with their titties out, now that was fun as fuck. I remember my opener being that I had forgotten to bring sunblock and asking them if I could borrow a bit, funny thing is that I'm mixed and I don't need sunblock, though I did get sunburned once as a kid.

I just touched down in Madrid for my study abroad, and I'm so down to meet up and try this out. I came in completely blind about the country, but I know Spanish near-fluently. We should definitely hang out!
