Ok, so I'll spare everyone the details of these situations since they are "nerdy". Bottom line is, I tend to struggle with talking to new girls(new people in general), but I've been on a pretty decent streak of just talking with some new girls(and being kind of suave about it, haha). Anyway, if you want just skip to the last paragraph, the whole point of this post is there, everything before that is just the explanation of what actually happened.

The first of these two situations was at a little hobby league for Yu-gi-oh. I got paired up against this girl and just said," I can already tell you're going to make me look really bad." with a nice little smile and she really seemed to enjoy that little compliment/line. During our little match we talked for the whole thing, talked after the little tournament was over, and I now have someone new to talk with(walked away with her number).

Today is the release of the new pokemon game and while I was in line I saw one of the cashier's and thought she was attractive. I ended up getting her and when she asked what I wanted I just said pokemon, she asked what kind, I said surprise me, she walked into the back and brought out the oldest version they had and we had a little laugh. After she grabbed one of the newer copies, I paid, and as she was explaining all the info on the receipt she mentioned what her name was and that if I had any questions about the game I could call and she'd be happy to help. To which I jokingly said, "Ok cool, so if I'm not happy with this version I know how I can call and complain to." Again a little laugh and I was on my way.

So, main point is that you should just go for it. I always get in my own head about talking to new girls(new people). Basically, I always try to think of topics before hand and as soon as the conversation starts to drift away from those topics(if it even gets started in the first place) I can't think of anything to say, leading to very awkward situations, leading to me being stressed about talking with new people. In both of these situations I was relaxed and had no expectations, I just talked to them and said what came naturally.
