Being afraid of going up and talking to a girl that you don’t know is something we've nearly all been through. It’s not the easiest thing to fix, and it’s a major sticking point for a lot of people. To get past it you need to tackle it in little steps.

1) Develop the right mindset - your goal isn't to get her number, your goal should be to have a beautiful interaction with a stranger. Make her day by telling her that you think she looks nice! Understand that you can't control most of her reaction (it's mostly down to how she's feeling), and that she can't really "reject" you as she doesn't know you (she can only reject the interaction).

2) Start small! - try going up to a girl and giving her a compliment, with the intention of leaving straight away. There's no pressure, you're just giving her a compliment then leaving. If you're struggling with that then go and ask some hot girls for directions or the time until you feel more comfortable.

3) Put your reps in - practice, practice, practice! The more you do it (even if you're just giving a quick compliment or asking for directions), the easier it becomes, and the more comfortable it feels. The next time you see that girl in the street (the one that makes your heart skip a beat), approach her. If you can't tell her that you think she looks nice then just ask her for directions. The important thing is that you approach. Train yourself to always approach the girls you like. And build from there as you get more comfortable.
