Go on a double date, then separate from the set.

Sparks is inexplicable beyond saying "a connection." For me, sparks means I click with this woman, be it physically or on a deeper level

Why did you kiss her? Are you attracted to her beyond the fact that she's a girl? I ask because you really haven't described her. You've described the circumstances leading up to and surrounding prom more than why you're attracted to her. If I'm right then it makes sense that she didn't feel a spark, a connection with you. Worst case scenario is that you two can go to prom as just friends. Nothing wrong with that.

The best thing about this girl is that there are 100 more just like her or better. Give her some time to come to you, if she doesn't it's her loss

Unless you've defined exclusive terms, which it doesn't seem like you have, I would. Girls want what other girls want

From the sounds of it, you texting her, talking to her on the phone often might be killing the attraction between you too. Right now you come off as the one more invested, so essentially you're chasing her even though you might not realize it.
I would cut down on the texting, and only text when she initiates. When she does initiate, try to make it so she's doing all the work essentially. Only text her first to set up plans etc.
For myself, talking to girls on the phone is almost a double edged sword. It can go really well, or it can be a boring for her, so try to limit that as well.
One last thing- Her parents are over protective, and this could be her first experience with the whole significant other thing. She is trying to base her feelings off of a movie, so be somewhat patient, and actively pursue others in the meantime.

Prom is a nightmare-take it from some one who has gone to 2 of em in two years.

Why was Prom a nightmare?

Ridiculously high expectations and tension. Things don't go well if people aren't relaxed and every girl gets super stressed about prom (some guys too).

I thought so ,but would the high expectations apply to Junior Prom?

Just go stare at a lake, man. The answers will come!
