I went to some effort writing a comment, and I figured it deserved a post of its own, rather than getting buried in an obscure thread, so here it is.

The OP had questions about breaking eye contact, so I did a quick 2 minutes of searching and posted a couple of links, including one that I had never seen before I searched this topic, and one that I had seen many times before.

I thought it might be useful and instructive to document this quick exchange, and show my methods of finding reputable sources of PUA information. This doesn't just apply to videos either.

Let's start with the OP "Destroying bad eye contact habits is too hard," and my quick reply.

You can't just stare into a woman's eyes endlessly. That can seem like a stare-down and can be perceived as aggressive.

There is a lot of PUA theory about "rapport breaking" and I don't have time to get into a lot of it right now. But you can occasionally break rapport by breaking eye contact, you really have to.

Here is a weird video from a non-PUA source (mostly about job interviews) that talks about breaking eye contact. But it is good enough.

Here's a better video from RSD Tim about breaking rapport with voice tonality. This will help you get the theory, I hope.

Some other sedditor responded:

I really enjoyed those. Any more good videos kicking around the web you'd recommend?

I started writing another reply and I spent more effort than I expected, since it revealed some fundamental issues in seddit and the PUA community. I especially urge you to consider my final paragraph.

Well of course there are tons of good videos. How do you think I found them myself? I used a search inside YouTube. I never saw the "weird video" before I linked to it. And of course there are lots of crap videos that are loaded with SEO keywords so you get hits on crap instead of the good stuff you want.

Look, this is one of the reasons we use jargon. I give some keyword to you inside quotations, like "rapport breaking." Google it. Ok, lots of non-PUA stuff, I like to add "PUA" as a keyword, so your search term looks like this: "rapport breaking PUA" and that tends to get what you're looking for.

Or you could go to content aggregators that are PUA specific. Sometimes I use pualingo.com but it is a real pain in the ass since it is loaded with sleazy advertising. Make sure you've got an adblocker and go there to search for "rapport breaking" and you will find this page as the top hit. Well, not quite what I wanted, and the video is off topic. Back to the search page, there are related terms like conversational rapport, and just plain rapport. There is also a link to a pickup method called "60 Years of Challenge" which is popular in seddit, they use rapport methods.

But it takes some experience to make a good judgment about what is useful material. Like for example, I saw that video from RSD Tim, I've seen that before, it's from one of my favorite video series. I think it's Real Social Dynamics Fundamentals, or maybe it's RSD Transformations, but it's their beginner DVD series. So when I saw the clip with RSD Tim, I recognized it, and other sedditors have linked to it and used it to make their point.

So finding good video material is a matter of using PUA jargon effectively, and a bit of experience knowing what sources are trustworthy. Usually you can tell if a video is bullshit, but sometimes I worry that some bullshit artists are tricking newbies with plausible but incorrect theories that are dressed up in PUA jargon. We see a lot of that as moderators, and we remove those links.

Some sources are generally more authoritative, you can see them appear in seddit often enough. Find someone whose advice resonates with you, and see if they have more. As a moderator, I can't officially endorse any PUA schools of thought, but I observe what is popular and sedditors say is useful. For example, the 21Convention has a YouTube channel with ProPUAs giving free lectures, sometimes over two hours of good material. One video I do specifically endorse is "The Formula for Night Game" by Richard LaRuina (Gambler), who recently did an AMA in seddit. An official AMA doesn't mean we officially endorsed them, but it means the moderators have at least vetted them and know they're not bullshitters, they're the real deal. Anyway, right there you know from the AMA it's legit, and the video leads you to Gambler and 21Convention as legit sources. Now explore those sources.

So use the resources of seddit to help you find legit, quality materials. Remember that our community has a long history with a large "knowledgebase" and almost none of that is posted in seddit. We discuss the common knowledge of our community, and assume you have taken the trouble to learn the same things we have all learned. This gives us all a common structure and a common language to understand and discuss our personal issues about sexuality. Some of us have never talked to people about our sexual issues before, we don't even know how to do it.
