If you're on the basketball team, that's an easy avenue to lots of social exposure. Just get out and focus on meeting people. And don't mention how you were in High School, because it's irrelevant to your college life from here on out.

If you really want to, follow the guide to College game which was posted a while ago. I forgot the name of it and don't have the link, but it goes along these lines:

It is especially perfect for you because you are about to start college, which is the big key here. Basically, people (girls and boys) are more socially open and accepting during the first few days or even couple of weeks of college. This is because it is socially expected that everyone meet new people and form new friends and friendship groups. That is how it is when anyone is starting off in a new school or college.

So, during the first few days, who do you make friends with? The hot girls. That's right, befriend them. You don't have to game them or anything at all, just befriend them, like you would anyone else. It won't appear awkward or weird at all because it is expected that people make new friends during the first few days of college. Once you have befriended a hot girl, either one of two things could happen: a) She does not have many close friends that go to the college, and thus you are pretty much her only friend. b) She already has a group of friends (who are most likely hot as well)

If the first is the case, then you continue befriending other hot girls, but keep the friendship with the first one. Then, you introduce them all to one another, forming your own little 'hot girls' group. Remember, there is absolutely no problem being friendzoned with these girls. In fact, it is favourable to be friendzoned and is encouraged.

If the latter is the case, then she will most likely (or if she doesn't, I'm sure you can find a way to) introduce you to her friends, and from there you can integrate into that 'hot girls' group. Again, being friendzoned is what you want.

After your group is solidified, then you have now successfully integrated yourself with a group of hot girls. What happens next? A lot of things. You can rock up to parties with these chicks which would immediately give you social credibility and pre-selection to those who see you roll in with these babes. Furthermore, your group of hot girls will naturally attract more hot girls, and those are the ones you can game. Remember though, you don't really want to get involved with any of the core members of the friendship group, because this could actually cause drama etc. and break the group up!

Be open about yourself. In every aspect. Don't falsify anything about yourself. You were a loser in high school? So? This is college. Take interest in others, and they will have interest in you. Read the room. Etc. Take care yourself. Love yourself. Love yourself and share it with everybody. People flock to you when you're just honest, caring, funny, and will smile a lot.

You're going to come into freshman orientation chilling with one friend or so. Roommate, or just teammate or friend, but have someone there whom you will branch off of. You still gotta get bullshit done from then, like get your ID and find classes, do "bonding" shit. You're gonna want to talk to everyone, including bros. In line waiting for your stuff, that first and only time you walk into the campus bookstore, waiting for your shitty free food. Then always keep at it with, "can I sit here" with anyone who doesn't look like a total nerd. You'll have a blast this way, and there will definitely be girls mirin'. You'll find them with huge smiles on their faces, waiting for you to talk to them as they walk by. This is because that first week they are basically broadcasting their natural attraction because they want to meet people too. That first week is where you'll gain 90% of traction for the rest of the semester.

Don't expect to completely transform from a loser personality into a solid one if you haven't done any self improvement to build up to this. If you haven't done self improvement at all then I suggest you start right now, it may be too late though. What I mean by self improvement is to just build confidence, be comfortable in new social situations and in your own skin. You should have this all prepared BEFORE you enter college, don't try to prepare it during college. Ideally you want to be coming into college feeling great like you can mingle with whoever you please.

tips? just say hi to everyone and take an interest in them, enjoy yourself and most of all, fucking do well in school. you're not a badass to anyone at the beginning, remember, actions speak louder than words. chances are your first group or two of friends won't be the group you end up with. though i suppose in sports that could be different if you fall into that mentality. really though, do well in school.

Just meet people who throw parties. You're on a big team right? So you're already going to be the "basketball house" right? If so, throw bangers and you'll have floods of pussy coming at you. At that point, once you have the social proof and assuming you know how to attract a girl, you can pretty much just have your pick.

Just be cool and kind of the strong, quiet type and fuck girls really well. Try to act like you care about school more than partying so you don't come off as just some burnout. Besides that, make friends, don't get caught up in the cliche bullshit which always happens. If you're that guy who's friends with everyone, you'll be looked up upon so much more than if you only hang with certain people all the time and exclude everyone else like high school, ya know?

Also, reputation is still really important, so yeah, don't rape any girls or get too drunk. You should be fine.

I'm just coming out of the dorms this next semester so my tip is to just meet everyone. Especially all the guys on your hall. Making friends with them will work in your favor later. If you're at a party and you're already friends with a lot of people there it will improve your social value to others. Also, just get involved. Each residence hall is different but if your floor is having a game night or movie night or something hit that shit up. Stand out a little. I promise, people seem more weird when they stay quiet at social events. But mostly, just have fun man. If you're having fun others will have fun.

Tips that helped me:

-Join a frat (although your ball team may be a great substitute for this). Other guys in the frat will teach you how to work the game and you'll be constantly exposed to sororities through mixers and parties and such -live with girls if you can. Befriend girls or befriend guys who are friends with a lot of girls and living with them is even better. Being around girls that are just friends or roommates with you bring down to pedestal you put girls on and they can also introduce you to their friends all the time

Well you know more people than I did going into college, and I ended up doing more than fine.

I did a big social turnaround in college as compared to high school as well.

All you have to do is keep an open, adventurous, and friendly attitude. Don't think you are better than anyone and be nice and cool to everyone you meet. Don't be afraid to tag along with people you normally wouldn't. Basically go outside your comfort zone all the time.

Some people might tell you to exert tons of 'alpha male' behavior, but someone who builds those around him up will always be stronger socially than someone who tries to dominate a situation.

Don't think about high school.. ! First!

Don't try to be that guy on campus. People really care a bit less about popularity in college compared to high school.

Study hard, practice hard, meet people. More friends, means more sex. It sounds silly but studying is cool in college. Plus, You're an athlete so, it will be even easier for you. Especially if you're half way decent on the court.
