Your post reads almost like a poem. I would say you have to start from the bottom. You say you don't hate yourself but maybe you need to be even more comfortable with yourself. Sort out what your goals are and work toward them. Enforce your social qualities and align them with your own goals. I.e don't put yourself in a social role that you are not comfortable with. If you are authenthic you will be more confident, because you aren't hiding something.

I think meditation could be the best way to solve your problem. I've become very outspoken after starting. Before I was very quiet like you, keeping shit to myself. You'd be surprised how much that changes when you stop 'putting things on the pedestal' as you formulated it. Through meditation you'll learn to accept every moment, and this means that you don't depend on anything to be happy, because you have a foundation of happiness that aren't dependtent on outcomes, which makes you stop putting things on the pedestal, and also helps you realising how irrational it really is to do so anyway.

Start disagreeing with people more. Even if you're just playing devil's advocate, make opinions and share them. Be wrong, and defend yourself. Your problem is that you aren't participatory, and you won't be able to change your mindset until you start behaving differently. Just watching and reading won't get you there.
