The date for this report is 11-7-2014. I went to a town northwest of my home, about an hour's drive (even without traffic) with the intention of getting an f-close tonight.

Original Stated goals:

1) Approach at least 3 women. - Success

2) Recognize IoIs - General Failure

3) #-close, k-close, eventual f-close - Failures across the board

4) Practice introductions to not only women, but to others as well - Resounding success.

The bar that I went to was a typical college hangout for the local (for that area) university, and was absolutely full of couples. I honestly had trouble discerning women who were available from those who were taken at a glance. Heart-shaped pendants are a good sign that she's taken. I arrived a bit early, spending the next hour or so getting into my frame, chatting up EVERYONE I could, but not quite approaching potential matches just yet.

In my warming up, as I'll call it, I learned of a youtube channel known as Real Social Dynamics that teaches a lot of PUA techniques. I was also referred to a youtuber by the name of Elliot Hall (sp?) who works with fitness. - Extra Knowledge gained, General Success

As the night went on, I cold-approached a number of women in the bar, going for a quick compliment on their appearance (for one girl, I complimented her hair, another, her jacket.) One example I would like to share was a girl I was walking past, I excused myself and told her 'I love your scarf.' She was overjoyed, placing both hands on my arm and thanking me multiple times before entering the building with her friends. -- Possible IOI Identified, however, as with all of the girls, I did not stick around long enough to begin a good conversation/rapport. The openers are great, conformation I will detail in the next section, but I have learned that I need to work on striking up a conversation once I have a girl's interest and I have broken the ice with a compliment.

I wound down the night by speaking with one couple (mainly the girl, but made it QUITE clear that I was not flirting with her.) We shared a great number of stories, and I asked her for advice on my technique involving confidence (of which, I feel I did very well tonight) and initial openings. -- She was very approving of my complimenting, cold-approach openers, saying that they work very well. Furthermore, as she is a former student of the community college I attend now, she informed me that many students here (being my school) are immature and follow more of a highschool mindset. Must research.

I ended the night by parting ways with the couple and their friend. It was about midnight at this point, and while I had originally intended to leave at 1 AM had I not found any girls attracted in me, I felt like the knowledge gained and experience had was enough for self-reflection, and, tentatively, a field report.

Successes of the night

Though my original goal was not met, the information of a new source of PUA reference material was well appreciated. Furthermore, the confirmation from a girl, albeit slightly tipsy one, that my cold, complimenting approaches are good openers only increases my confidence in it. The practice of being social, and of approaching women is, no doubt, a success. It is an exercise of social ability, and I already feel I can use this experience in the next week.

Failures of the night

Though my approach anxiety was behaving for the most part, I hesitated many, many times to approach a potential mark. While I am confident now in my ability to open and grab attention (for the most part) I now realize that I need to learn how to switch from opening to rapport. Also, I could not remember anyone's name for the life of me. I just have a hard, hard time with names.

Final Summary

Overall, the night was a wash. My goals were too lofty, and though I had high confidence, I lacked the knowledge to put it to use (mainly in beginning and building rapport. At the very least, I had kino in the back of my mind, unfortunately I never got to the point where it could have been utilized. Though my sociability with groups of men is passable (could use work) this does not seem to translate completely with a woman who I am possibly interested in. I ejected myself a little too early from the conversation after the opener. The information gained is a bonus, and nowhere near my objectives for the night, but I'll take what I can get. The confidence, experience, and confirmations that I got throughout the night were well worth the trip, however.

Advice to fellow Novices

>If you are fortunate to have a girl who is comfortable talking to you about relationship, pickup, and dating advice, they are an asset and can be invaluable

>Don't try to form long-term relationships in bars. I keep getting this advice a lot, so I'll pass it on.

>Don't shoot for a #-close on a place that is far too distant from your usual stomping grounds. On retrospect, this is long enough for me to consider somewhat long-distance. Feel free to practice, however.

>A good opening, good rapport, and the ability to stand your ground when your fears tell you to run are all-important in our hobby. If any one of these are not strong, the others will fail.

>Don't just talk to the single ladies. I learned a lot by talking to the dudes and the coupled girls.

>Talk with EVERYONE to get your frame going. Especially if you're sarging solo like I did tonight. Just get out there and flex that social muscle.
