I feel like my text game could use some polishing, and was wondering if there were some guidelines, guides, books, rules or anything anyone could recommend.

Text game is for straight forward things like confirming the details of where to meet up, etc., or for occasional messages.

It's not complicated. If you have issues with your in person "game", then your text game will have issues. If you resolve the causes of your in person "game" issues, your text game should clear up too.

Your attention is better spent on making sure you're comfortable with IN PERSON conversation skills and the like.

Just use texting to set up dates. Really important is the interaction you have with the girl.

Texting is pretty powerful when it comes to initial rapport.

I've seen that the best texting is around a common topic/joke. Music, sports etc. are all good topics because its a shared interest. Through texting about said topics, you can get a lot more information about her as a person as well, so don't think its just empty banter.

Inside jokes. One of the keys to an interaction is to have something exclusive betwen the two of you. Oftentimes this is a joke of some sort whether its something funny somebody said or did. It could be a pop culture reference (Chappelle Show quotes for example), it just needs to be funny between the both of you.

This way, you can text on the basis of a previous conversation/banter/joke. Send links to a funny article, a funny meme etc....this then creates a good pattern for communication...where you don't NEED a reason to text, and neither does she.
