Went out last night to a local bar and in an attempt to get a few more approaches under the belt, I opened up a mixed three set (two women, one man). I opened with an opinion opener, which was that I had a buddy who was going through a bad breakup, and what did they think the best way to get over her was? The guy shot me an iffy look and one of the girls whispered something to him.

He then looked right at me and said "Is that a pickup line you read in a book?" Incredulous, I asked what he meant. He still seemed suspicious, but I reiterated that I was asking him, not the women. I then opened it up to the girls, hoping I'd passed through the initial resistance, but things remained weird. They agreed that getting with a ton of girls was the best approach, but seemed hesitant to continue the conversation. I thanked them for their advice and told 'em to have a good night.

Ejecting seemed the only way to deal with this, I'm curious if you guys have any suggestions for similar situations.
