I work at a major grocery store chain in the produce section. Here's what I've come up with for picking up girls that I have no idea of their relationship status.

Opening:

Me: Hey, how's it going? (confident voice and smile)

Her: any response

Me: Good. I've got a quick question for you

...

Are you single?

YES

Me: Hey, me too! wide smile What's your name? extend hand

Her: Blah blah

Me: Hi blah blah. So, what are you shopping for today? let her break the hand holding

Her: blah blah

Me: Nice. Well, I gotta get back to work. Let me get your number, i'll send you a witty text, and we'll go from there. Cool?

MAYBE/COMPLICATED

NO

Me: Your really pretty so I thought i'd take a chance. He's a lucky guy.

Her: Blah

Me: Ok, have a nice day! smile

My main concern with picking up customers is the possibility of a jealous boyfriend. I think most rational girls will take the compliment and move on but there is that small percentage that are crazy/enjoy boyfriends acting jealous so I'm trying to play it as safe as possible while still being direct.

Any thoughs?
