Read this article from the Wall Street Journal about how to make your voice more charismatic.

I had the same problem as you a couple of years ago, and first of all: You don't have to have an "interesting voice" to be a great conversationalist. Secondly: Being alpha has nothing to do with how people perceive your conversation skills IMO.
I stumbled upon this article a couple of days ago, and I think he does a really good job of explaining how to get people to like having conversations with you. One last thing: In my opinion, the most interesting people to talk with, are those who are either good at making conversation on-the-spot/just talking about whatever, and those who talk with passion! Find a dude who you think is a great conversationalist, and listen to how he makes conversation. Not how he says it, but what he responds to the people he's talking to, how much he reveals when he says something about himself/tells a story - find out what you like, and then try and implement it!
But read the article, and pay extra attention to the topic of hook points! It's gold.
