So this was tough for me. I'm 27 and have been single for almost a year with virtually no self confidence and only a few actual relationships.
So I've been in this new town for a few months and my boss and I go to this bar somewhat frequently. Bar has a very attractive bartender... Whom after chatting with I eventually find out is single.
First time I ask if she wants to hang out sometime when she isn't being paid to be friendly with me. She says she doesn't give her number to guys she doesn't really know and proceeds to give me her Twitter and email. I @ her on Twitter a couple times and we follow each other, blah blah.
Next time I am in the bar it's just me again and at the end of the night I ask if I could tip her with lunch sometime. She says "I'll text you later" so I leave my number for her. I get a DM later and she says she lost my number somewhere between her for foyer and living room. I respond with my number. She texts me and says now I have her number, what is my next move?
We stayed up talking that night until about 2:30am... I thought I was doing well. Still hadn't got her to agree to a date yet because her water had froze up that week so she was busy dealing with that, blah blah.
We text a lot the next couple days, then things get weird. She had been arguing with her mom one night and randomly texted me "my phone is wet" "heading over" and she showed up in a few minutes and me totally unprepared. Brought her dog with her and she sat on the couch. I pulled up a chair directly in front of her... And I think I fucked it up at that point instead of sitting with her.
Sat around and talked for a few minutes. Let her cool down... And now the texts are few and far between. She has said that she wanted me to know she wasn't just blowing me off and that she has actually been busy... But I don't know, seems a little excessive for it to not be intentional.
Did I read the signs right? I mean I do not doubt she is busy, she's in grad school, working, doing an internship, and has a dog to care for by herself. But if you were interested in someone you would find some time, right?
I've deleted her contact and our conversation today. I genuinely liked this girl and at first felt like she had interest in me too, but now I'm doubtful so it felt easier to just delete her and treat her like a bartender again.
Is it possible for me to recover from this and possibly get another shot? Just leave her alone for awhile and be a normal bar patron for awhile and see if she opens up again?
