No. Say it. It's powerful. It makes things more intense. It's extremely comforting.

Couple of keys you need to consider though to make sure it comes out right:

It has to come during a high moment for you. A moment in which you REALLY like her. Like a moment where you can just feel warm because of her. A moment where you think all of a sudden 'wow this girl is great.'. A moment when you realize you're really happy you took the leaps of faith you did to get her out alone.
It has to be said as if it's a declaration of fact. You're not trying to get any reaction out of her. You're just declaring a fact. Without any consideration of how she views this fact.
You probably want to do something right after you say it. Either escalate by adding physical compliments or kissing her. Ease the tension by playfully disqualifying (teasing) her. Or simply getting more specific with something you like about her (a personality trait like she's funnier than most girls or something)
