Don't come from the PUA frame of "approaching the target".

Come from a frame of general curiosity about people, wanting to meet them, enrich their lives and socialize.

When you label it as approaching you put this heavy burden on it.

Now think about if a girl left the table she was sitting at and didn't realize she forgot her phone, but you noticed.

Would you feel "approach anxiety" going after her to return her phone?

Probably not.

It's the same action just a different perspective of what you are doing.

Everything gets better with time. Think about it like this. When you go on a roller coaster for the first time you're going to be scared as fuck. You get butterfly's, regret, anxiety. Now when you go on the roller coaster for the 3rd, 5th, 100th time. You will get used to it. Of course you'll get those butterfly's but it will be less and less every time. Just keep going out their and you'll see with practice everything will get better. Just PM me if you have any other questions

What i did to overcome this is strike up conversations with guys who looked cool and would talk to them for a little bit and then move on the next week to talking to moderately attractive girls and then onto the hotties...this worked for me but idk everyone is different

Hey buddy, Approach Anxiety is very common. We all get it, especially in the day time which is considered a non-social environment. We get anxiety because of either fear of rejection or outcome dependency. The key to approach anxiety is building momentum, but how the fuck do you build momentum when you can't even approach in the first place!? It's all about PROGRESSIVE ACTION. Any new behavior or habit you try to build, will consist you leaving your comfort zone. The idea is to first get used to the idea of approaching by making small approaches first: asking for directions, the time, etc. Being at a university is great, because after you do your small approaches you can transition right away about classes/major etc.....The idea is to learn FIRST how to simply have a social conversation, and then get to the good stuff, as you become more comfortable.
