Bit of background: I'm a 20 year old music student with anxiety issues (bit ironic I find) and have been having trouble approaching strangers whether it's out of sexual interest or merely a social interaction. Tonight I went out for the first time with the sole purpose in mind to approach an attractive girl when I saw one and just make conversation, this I did, but it was painfully close to potentially going further.
I went out to a club in the closest city to me and I had nowhere to stay in the city tonight so my time there was restricted. There was degree students from the uni just right next to mine doing some kind of performance showcase so I stayed to watch out of interest in what they were doing (being a fellow musician), and then there was this girl in one of the bands...she was a solid 9 at least.
Anyway time passed and because of their involvement in the show I couldn't find an appropriate time to approach before they had went on and finished and by the time they did it was more or less too late. I did however manage to approach her, congratulate her on her performance and I also complimented her looks. She thanked me for this and thanked me for coming, but this is where it ended because if i didn't leave now i'd miss the last train home...
Before i could ask her for her number as i was interested in getting to know her better, she was already in another conversation and the next band were on playing, not to mention i was out of time.
tl;dr: May have made progress with my approach anxiety however I was so close to potentially getting more out of this. Opinions? Things I should try next? Thoughts appreciated :)
