Compliment her on something she's wearing or her make up. Especially if she has good make up. For women that's something they find important, especially if they put the time in. Show her appreciation for her efforts. Only do that if you actually believe it though. Don't lie, it will bite you in the ass later.

For example, she has a shirt on you think is cool. Or maybe a dress with a pattern you like. You want to say "whoa, that's a cool <clothing>!" or "Hey, that eye liner looks really good." That's it. Nothing more, unless she goes into detail. Leave it there. You're going to want to explain or elaborate. Don't. You owe no one any explanation.

Also something I've discovered/realized, it's better/less creepy to state things factually. Bare with me. Since you don't know her, your opinion doesn't matter, but 2+2 still equals 4, even if you want it to be 90. The fact is her clothing looks cool to you, therefore it looks cool. Your opinion is it looks cool as well, so they overlap. If you tell her the fact is her clothing looks cool, it's better than you saying you think it does. I'll show you the difference below.

"Your shirt looks cool." vs "I like your shirt." Any modification of either of those will suffice, but I think you get it. The second one you're telling her that you like her shirt, not that her shirt is cool. You can give your opinion when you're friends and relationship is more in depth. For now, stick to the facts.

Another thing is to make small talk. Ask her how she's doing. She'll probably say" good, and you? " Take that invite, but keep it short. Go with "Im on my way home from work, so it's getting better." or if your day sucked be like "Eh, kind of sucked. I had <event> happen." the last one is good, because it shows you can communicate, and gives her insight into what sort of things you let bother you (your personality). Everyone can relate to bad days, so feel free to say something, but keep it short as fuck. People bond over misery and dislikes just as well, or better than likes and happiness.
