I agree with the basic premise of Oneitis, ie a guy shouldn't think a specific girl is "the one" and amazing magic, and overlook how disrespectful towards him she's being. That you shouldn't get too dependent on a single person.
I also like Athol Kay.
But I didn't get this post: http://marriedmansexlife.com/2012/12/oh-no-not-again/
To use a Little Prince analogy (even if the Prince himself was rather beta): Yes, at some point you have to realize that there's lots of roses out there, nor just yours.
But isn't it also okay to recognize that you've invested a lot of time and effort into one specific rose, with payout in the form of the quality of your relationship?
Obviously if the quality of the relationship isn't there, that's where the recognition of many roses is important. But if you have a healthy thriving relationship, what's wrong with openly acknowledging that? Not, "i can't live without you" which is bad, but "losing the good thing we have right now would really, really suck"?
I know that the end of the post makes it clear that he's upset, I just don't understand why he needs to bother pretending he's not. Is Oneitis so treacherously easy to allow into one's heart that you have to be careful not to even allow the thought of "i really don't want you gone"? Or it is just that it would it be too encouraging to blue-pillish mindsets?
(I'm a girl so I might just not be relating to what it's like as a guy...)
Edit: oops, I hope this isn't the wrong subreddit since this isn't asking for advice and more trying to understand the theory. If this is the wrong subreddit, where should I ask instead?
