So, this morning I think I may have made a major mistake. I've been talking to this girl for a while, and even though we really get along, I think I misread things, and asked her out over a text message. Haven't heard back, and obviously, it was stupid to ask her out over text anyways (even though we constantly text each other stupid gifs).

So, basically, I've got no game. I'm 28, and I feel like it's time I really make an effort to overcome this weakness. For me, it's less about "sleeping around" and more about trying to find someone to start a serious relationship with, and that's just not gonna happen if I don't make an effort to connect with people. And this subreddit seems to focus on stuff like that.

I can strike up a casual conversation with a complete strange, including women, but I can never muster up the courage to show any romantic interest. I choke-up, worried I'll come off as "creepy", or even just that I'll be seen as "sad" for assuming there's interest when there isn't any.

Just yesterday, I was at a restaurant with a friend watching a hockey game, and after our team wins, one of my friends buys a girl at the next table a shot after her team lost, and just like that, created an opportunity.

Granted, my friend is married, which is concerning in its own way, but even if I had thought to buy her a shot, the moment she said thanks, I probably would have just said "No problem", and gone right back to talking with my friends. The idea of trying to establish something that isn't strictly platonic just paralyzes me.

Worse still, I also don't really find myself in situations to even encounter women very often. When I was a barista, sure, every day. Now that I'm between jobs, and looking to get into web-design, I'm going to have to learn not just how to talk to women, but also where to talk to them, and force myself to get out of the house.

Ugh... Honestly, I'm kind of a mess, but any advice is appreciated. Just keep it at least slightly motivational though, eh? It's been a rough couple of weeks, so my confidence is already kind of shot at the moment.
