Hello, first FR. Been reading this subreddit for about 3ish weeks now, trying to teach myself as much as possible. Tried applying what I have learned tonight.

I am a server at a restaurant that's in a big university town so we get hot girls all the time. 2 girls came in that just moved to town to attend graduate school. I asked them if they were going to go to a club after they are done eating, and we got in to a long conversation about the clubbing scene in the city. I used strong eye contact with both of them, depending on who was talking, of course my focus was more so on the one I wanted to pickup. They seemed to be pretty in to the conversation and it felt as if it was mostly naturally progressing, not forced because i used statements not questions unless I had to. For example, I asked them what they would be teaching once they were done teacher's college.

The other girl left to go to the bathroom, so this time I approached her because she was isolated. We easily got in to a topic about how they were now room mates. This where I used touch. I touched her shoulder and told her "this is the true test of friendship, being roommates". But that was only time I touched her.

When it was time to bill them out, I then asked for their names. I feel that this was too late. after a short few words I said, "well since you are new to town, you should give me your number. I can show you the town a bit more". Here she got very flustered and red, and said that she would rather take my phone number and message me instead. Which basically means no, of course. In response to her suggestion, I said "I don't believe you", playfully, I think. She said, "oh you dont trust me! thats not nice!", laughing and giggling. I blanked here and didn't know what to say and just said "oh, so..no?" and she was basically said "no sorry". SO I didn't end up getting her number. Fat tip though.

Analysis: I feel that my conversation was too friendly in a platonic way, and not enough as a "man-to-woman" manner. I didn't get their names very early, I basically asked for her number immediately after. I don't know if that is poor timing. I didn't gracefully or cleverly handle her "rejection" at the end when she said for me to give my number. Maybe I should have, I dunno. I only touched once, on the shoulder. maybe I could improve that in some way.

What I did right: Strong eye contact and smiling. Both of them often responded in kind. Statements, not questions allowed for longer conversations that didn't feel awkward.
