I don't agree that the goal of talking to girls is to get them to talk about themselves by asking them questions. That sounds like an interview, and if the girl isn't attracted to you then she isn't going to walk to talk to you about herself or anything else.

The goal is to find a subject you both find interesting. If she's into it, and into you, then she will naturally talk about herself and her experiences with that subject. IF a girl is freely talking about herself, that's how you know she is interested. But you have to get her interested first. Interview mode doesn't work.

So for example, instead of saying "what kind of music do you like" I will say "I really like EDM. My favorite DJs are X, Y and Z." If she's into EDM, then she will tell you what her favorite DJs are.
