Hello all,

My first post on Reddit! Been following seddit for some time and it's really helping me get out of my shell. Took a girl out last night on a first date and she made a comment I've heard girls make before wether on the first date or someone I've been seeing for awhile. I've heard many times now that I'm Intimidating. Not threatening physically but not sure what I can do to change this.

I like to get after it. 21 years old right now and have always had a long term goals and visions with a HUGE work drive and work ethic to make it happen. Right now I work two full time jobs and have founded two businesses. By day I fix appliances... refrigerators, dishwashers, microwaves, etc and my night job is as a Firefighter/EMT-Basic for a local ALS ambulance company and our areas fire department. Usually work between 80-140 hours a week.

The two businesses are also both blowing up. One I launched last year and one this year. The one last year we manufacture a retail food product and is sold in 13 states right now and just last Friday landed a huge account for a company with 230 stores in my state alone. The second company is a food truck business and after a killer summer in Michigan is in Florida doing well. We have plans to build two more through the winter.

I say this all above because I put action to my words and I don't want you all to think I'm talking out of my ass. I've always set long and short term goals. I make a to do list everyday that furthers me along the path. I love to read and listen to books and podcasts. Love learning new things. I workout a lot, have run a few marathons, currently working towards first place in a physique competition, and have recently gotten into Jiu Jitsu and gymnastics.

I obviously have a lot going on for a kid my age.

When I talk with women there's always so much to talk about and the conversation last went really well. I had asked her what she read and then she asked me the same. I told her a few authors I've really been liking (Seth Godin, Neil Gaiman) and brief synapses of the books I had just read or listened to by them. It was after that she made a comment about being intimidated.

A few months ago with another girl I had been seeing we got talking about AI and she told me her thoughts and I told her my thoughts. Afterword she also made a comment about being intimidated.

When they ask me what I do should I not tell them I work two full time jobs and manage two successful companies? Most of the girls are MAYBE working 40 hours a week...

Should I being holding off on what I'm saying and dumbing things down? I live in a smaller area <100,000 people and most of the girls my age leave for college and never come back. I've been looking at going to networking events with young professionals but most of those are at 5/6pm when I'm still working. Or if I should just be looking for more interesting girls... any suggestions where?

I hope this didn't drag on too long, I'm new don't forget :)
