The escalation ladder is borderline autism.

Go with the flow, enjoy yourself, don't be shy.

Don't follow some stupid schema. Maybe it was just made to give you an example of how it is done. Not some "do this or you will fail!" - thing.

If you're not comfortable with it, do something else. This is a general schema, not an "if A do B" flowchart.

If you're sitting at a table with her, put your leg one inch away from her leg. Eventually she will accidentally bump into it. DONT REACT. Keep your leg there. She may pull her leg back, but soon she will put it back if you're doing good.

When I'm on a first date with a new girl I usually do the same things and it has worked very well:

1)Kino within 15 mins - a touch on the arm

2)Kino within 30 mins - lingering touches on the arm and touching the thigh/knee

3) Kino within an hour - "let me see your hand" hold her hand and tell her about digit ratios

etc.

I was uncomfortable doing it initially but it really works if done smoothly

Overt hand holding doesn't have to be hand holding. Just challenge her to a thumb war or something simple over something silly.

You don't have to follow it like its a flowchart. Its a ladder of progression for novices.
