How to respond to negative comments?

Recently a girl I know told me that I wasn't in demand (romantically/sexually).

Girls rarely say like this unless you ask for it by doing stuff that's needy. So ... what did you say that caused her to say this?

Though this comment alone doesn't bother me, since I know it isn't true, I would like to have a collected and confident way of responding.

You don't need one. If somebody is genuinely being an asshole to you, you don't need to get in a shit fight with them or "win" anything. Just ignore it and act like a mosquito is buzzing around your head. My favorite reaction to people being douchey is just to say "ok."

But ... that said... your real problem is probably that you're saying needy shit to girls that are causing them to reject you in an insulting way.

Just ask her: "Why do you think that" with a smile and watch her justify herself.

She probably didn't mean it and just teased you. But you were intimidated and this failed the test. But who cares, just tease her back next time ;)

you don't. attaching your ego and self-worth to a random comment is ridiculous. don't play the victim game and don't react/respond to negative comments at all. don't think about them at all. simply brush them off like it wasn't even said, or use the old agree and amplify technique.

If she's not important to you, you ignore her. If she's important ( potential sex partner) then you put her in her place politely with a line like "if you talk to me like that again, get out". High value men have options and do not tolerate backlash from a woman like that.
