Good way to meet girls besides parties/clubs/bars? Getting tired of that scene.

One way to think about it is like this: where do women go when they want to meet someone at a place other than a party / club / bar? The answers become pretty obvious when you think of it that way:

Places where they look their best (Yoga or other athletic scene maybe)
Places where they're doing something they find interesting (multi-day conference or something similarly in-depth)
Places they go to have fun (beach, museum, outdoor concert, etc)

Most guys do not know how to (or don't think to) play these venues precisely because they're not a party / club bar. You've got a huge advantage if you just go though realizing that women are hoping to meet people there, and you're the person they're hoping to meet.

Day game? Volunteering at an animal shelter, or similar cause? Online dating? Meeting girls in classes?

I had the same realization myself when I began my career. I didn't want to waste time out at the party scene, I was trying to live a cleaner and healthier lifestyle and wake up early. I was spending way more time in the gym and learning my industry, and didn't want to spend my weekends out partying at the drunkfests.

I used to think bars/parties were where you go to meet girls (and the only place for it). After some work on my belief systems I realized I was passing up so much opportunity with women everywhere I went.

Ask yourself this, how many hot girls do you walk past everyday on your way to the grocery store? At the post office? Walking their dog? Wherever. I'm sure you don't just sit at home 24/7. Now how many of those girls do you think are open to meeting a new guy? Probably quite a few...

Try doing some day game, you can start out taking an hour out of your day to go talk to girls.. and then shift it into your natural life. Start approaching while out. Seriously, you'll see it is actually much easier than fighting off the hordes of drunk men trying to do the same, and drunk women being drunk women (though I still like randomness of bar game hehe).

Yet that seems to be the only way to pickup/hookup with girls at all, at least for me being college aged.

It's far from the only way. :)

What is a good way to meet girls outside of parties/clubs/bars where they would be receptive to approach?

Firstly, I would urge you to consider another side of "pick-up" and "approaching." At their heart, seduction is basically socializing; you're using the same core skill set when you interact with an old lady at the grocery store that you're using on a girl at a party that you want to get with. Obviously, there are differences in terms of ultimate goals in each case, but if you are comfortable and warmed up to socialize, it's often easier across the board.

Why do I mention this at all? Because once one realizes that socializing in any public setting can result in interactions with girls, it opens things up. It's not always a case of needing to "approach" girls. A lot of interactions are almost incidental to normal social interactions.

Secondly, there are a lot of activites you can take up that will stack the deck by putting you around a lot of girls in mixed groups.

Hash runs.
Social partner dancing. Salsa, Argentine tango, Lindy hop, West coast swing.
Couchsurfer meets.
Consult a Meet-up app to find a group near you geared towards something you're interested in.

Take note: These aren't the places to start plowing through numbers, but more like sipping wine: you have a fair number of options in many cases, if you take your time. And you can keep relaxed while keeping your social skill sharp because there are a lot of cool people, men and women, to interact with.

The best is day game. Hallways, class, the mall, the street. Fucking anywhere that there's women. College is the best because the dating pool is endless, and there's little competition because most college guys are hopeless, sexist, and/or stupid.
